Interview: Thomas Lejeune, founder of Beaujolais Wine Experiences
An interview about a different side of Beaujolais
How did Beaujolais Wine Experiences come about? Why did I choose to offer private and tailor-made experiences from Lyon? And how can visitors discover a side of Beaujolais that goes far beyond the image of Beaujolais Nouveau?
I had the pleasure of speaking with Connecto Transfers about my journey, my vision of wine tourism, and above all, the region I have chosen to showcase.
In this interview, I talk about my transition from the insurance industry to wine tourism, my understanding of terroir, my encounters with independent winemakers, and the evolution of the Beaujolais wine region (see About).
We also discuss the diversity of wineries across the region, including those working with organic and biodynamic farming or more natural approaches, as well as the role of gastronomy and human connections in creating a meaningful wine tourism experience.
Finally, the interview explores a subject that is particularly important to me: the image of Beaujolais and how it has evolved over the past few decades.
Beaujolais is about much more than Beaujolais Nouveau. Its ten crus, diverse terroirs, old vines and new generation of winemakers are creating a region with an incredible diversity of wines and styles that deserves to be better known, particularly internationally.
This is precisely what I try to share through my private wine tours from Lyon: giving each visitor the opportunity to discover a living, authentic Beaujolais, deeply connected to the people who shape its identity.
