Are the Beaujolais and Burgundy wine tours private?

Yes. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family or with friends, every tour is fully private so you can enjoy the experience exclusively with your own group. Whether there are two or eight of you, once your booking request has been confirmed, you are guaranteed to be the only guests on your tour.

At Beaujolais Wine Experiences, we place great importance on creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you feel comfortable asking questions, discovering the wines and enjoying an unforgettable day together.

What is a typical day in Beaujolais like?

Your day begins directly at your hotel or accommodation in Lyon, where Thomas will pick you up. We then head towards Beaujolais for a first visit and tasting at a carefully selected wine estate, usually hosted by the winemaker.

We then continue with lunch at a bistronomic restaurant showcasing local and seasonal cuisine, accompanied by carefully selected wines.

In the afternoon, a second visit and tasting allows you to discover another estate, appellation or approach to winemaking.

At the end of the day, we drive back to Lyon and drop you off at your accommodation or another address of your choice.

Are the private Beaujolais wine tours tailor-made?

Yes. Every experience is designed around your interests, your level of wine knowledge, your preferences and any specific requirements you may have, such as allergies, dietary restrictions or timing constraints.

We select the wine estates according to your profile and the type of experience we want you to enjoy. Some of the estates we visit are highly confidential or do not normally welcome individual visitors, allowing you to enjoy a more personal and authentic encounter with the winemakers.

The price includes private round-trip transportation from your accommodation in a premium vehicle, Thomas's personal guidance throughout the day, two visits to carefully selected wine estates with guided tastings, and lunch at a bistronomic restaurant with wine.

The aim is to allow you to fully enjoy Beaujolais without having to organise the transportation, wine estate visits or lunch yourself.

Are the Beaujolais private tours accompanied by a guide?

Yes. You will be accompanied throughout the day by Thomas, a passionate wine professional who holds the WSET Level 2 qualification. He will drive you throughout the day and will be delighted to share his knowledge and passion for the wines of Beaujolais and beyond.

Tours can be conducted in either French or English.

Our private day tours generally last between 7 and 8 hours, with morning pick-up directly from your accommodation in Lyon and a return in the late afternoon.

The itinerary is adapted to the pace of your group and can be tailored according to your preferences.

Where does pick-up take place for a Beaujolais wine tour from Lyon?

We pick you up directly from your hotel, apartment or other accommodation in Lyon. There is no need to make your way to a shared meeting point.

At the end of the day, we will drive you back to an address of your choice in Lyon or the surrounding area, depending on the itinerary.

The price includes private transportation from Lyon, Thomas's personal guidance throughout the day, two visits and tastings at carefully selected wine estates, and a bistronomic lunch with wine.

Which grape varieties will we taste during the private wine tour?

The two main grape varieties of Beaujolais are easy to remember!

Gamay is used for red and rosé wines, while Chardonnay is used for white wines.

The ten Beaujolais crus produce exclusively red wines, including Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Saint-Amour and Morgon. The regional Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages appellations produce red, rosé and white wines.

Do you offer multi-day wine experiences?

Yes. In addition to our day tours, we can organise private multi-day wine experiences in Beaujolais, the Mâconnais, Burgundy and the Northern Rhône Valley.

These experiences can include private transportation, accommodation, wine estate visits, restaurants and activities. Every itinerary is tailor-made according to your interests and budget.

Absolutely. Thomas can create a tailor-made experience for your company and team, whether you are looking for a day, a weekend or a multi-day retreat.

From Lyon to Beaujolais, we can design an experience around wine while also introducing your team to the region and its landscapes. This can include tastings at confidential wine estates hosted by the winemaker, cycling, a Citroën 2CV experience, a gastronomic lunch at a restaurant or wine estate, and much more.

The programme can be adapted to your objectives, group size and budget.

My partner does not drink wine. Does the price remain the same?

Not necessarily. You do not need to drink wine to enjoy the experience. If one of the participants does not wish to take part in the wine tastings, we can adjust the price accordingly by removing the wine tasting component.

We can even identify wine estates producing grape juice, allowing non-drinkers to discover the aromas and flavours of local grape varieties in a different way.

Private transportation, Thomas's guidance and lunch remain included. Simply let us know when making your enquiry so that we can offer you the appropriate price.

How many people can join a private wine tour?

Our private experiences are most commonly designed for groups of 2 to 8 people, but we can also accommodate groups of 9 to 18 guests depending on the experience and transportation requirements.

You benefit from private transportation and dedicated guidance, with no other participants joining your group.

For larger groups, particularly for corporate events, seminars or bachelor/bachelorette parties, we can also create fully tailor-made experiences.

Are children welcome on a private Beaujolais wine tour? Do you offer activities for them?

Yes. Children are welcome on our private experiences, subject to the total group size.

We can adapt the programme so that the whole family can enjoy the day together, with activities such as treasure hunts or child-friendly tastings featuring products such as chocolate or cheese.

When making your booking, simply let us know the children's ages so that we can design an experience that is suitable for the whole family.
